Privacy Policy
1. What this policy covers
This policy explains what personal information the Plumbers Poole website collects. It also explains why we collect it and what happens to it afterwards. We keep it short and specific, because the site does only a few things with your data.
2. Information you give us
First, the enquiry form is the only way to contact us through this site. When you send it, we ask for your name, phone number, postcode and the service you need. Some forms also ask for your address, and every form has an optional box for job details.
If you use the postcode lookup button, then your postcode goes to a third-party address lookup service so that it can return a list of matching addresses. We use that list only to fill in your address field. You can always type your address by hand instead.
3. Information collected automatically
When you send a form, we also record the page you were on and the page that referred you. In addition, our server stores your IP address and browser type with the enquiry. We use these details to spot spam and to see which pages produce enquiries.
The form also includes a hidden field that real visitors never see. Spam programs often fill it in, so we discard those submissions.
4. How we use your information
- To read your enquiry and reply to you about the job
- To work out whether the job is in the area we cover
- To prepare a quote for the work you describe
- To keep the site secure and reduce spam
- To meet any legal duty that applies to us
We do not sell your personal information. Instead, we keep it for the purposes above.
5. Where your data is stored
The website runs on Cloudflare, which delivers the pages and handles the form request. As a result, your enquiry goes into a database, and the people who deal with new requests receive an alert. Cloudflare also processes technical request data, such as your IP address, so that it can deliver the site and protect it from abuse.
6. Analytics
We use Google Analytics 4 to count visits and see which pages people read. It runs in consent mode, so advertising storage is denied by default. Analytics measurement is on by default, however, and you can switch it off by choosing Reject on the cookie banner. Our cookie policy explains the cookie choices in more detail.
7. Your rights
Under UK data protection law, you can ask to see the personal data we hold about you. You can also ask us to correct it, to delete it, or to limit how we use it. However, if you are unhappy with how we handle your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office.
8. How to contact us
To make a privacy request, first send a message through the online enquiry form and say that it is a privacy request. Please do not include more personal detail than you need to. We will then reply once we have checked who you are.
We may update this policy when the site changes. Therefore, the date at the top shows when we last reviewed it.
